FOX Sports is teaming with Facebook to create new, exclusive interactive programs and segments on Facebook Watch that will focus on football, sports wagering and more. The new weekly FOX Football Sunday program streams on the platform each Monday morning during the season where fans on Facebook can ask questions to Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan, Tony Gonzalez and Curt Menefee. Additionally, every Sunday night, Menefee will host FOX Football Update, a recap of the day’s action with FOX Sports analysts from game locations. Additionally, in “The People vs Colin Cowherd,” with Colin Cowherd and Jason McIntyre, fans will be allowed to vote on which teams will cover the spread, as provided by FOX Bet, and Cowherd tells people where he believes they’re right and wrong. In addition, exclusive FOX Liga MX segments take a deeper look at Mexico’s top-tier domestic soccer league. The new collaboration between FOX Sports and Facebook also offers regular highlight packages from Liga MX, Big East basketball (2019-’20 season), NASCAR, Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) and the upcoming Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) season. PROGRAMMING CBS Sports mapped out its plans for the 2019-2020 college basketball season with its “strongest and most extensive schedule to date,” featuring more than 275 games across broadcast and cable. CBS tips off its 39th consecutive season broadcasting college basketball starting on Dec. 14 with a cross-conference clash between Oregon/Michigan at noon. Of course, CBS also broadcasts the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship with Turner Sports to provide exclusive live coverage of every game in its entirety across CBS, TBS, TNT and truTV. Meanwhile, CBS Sports Network’s schedule showcases more games than ever before, including an opening weekend that features the sixth annual “Veterans Classic at the U.S. Naval Academy” with Auburn/Davidson and ECU/Navy Once again, the Network also will televise three men’s conference championship games and five women’s conference championship games. Telemundo Deportes is launching a lineup of exclusive digital content to serve its 11+ million digital fans with sports content customized for each platform and available 24/7, including the sports division’s first-ever English-language series for bilingual sports fans, digital extensions of its most popular linear programming featuring on-air talent expert analysis, and news and editorial capsules covering major soccer leagues and tournaments. English content will include Sports Ana Twist, Weekly Premier and La Liga Upside Down Meanwhile, linear programming extensions include El VAR de Manolo, Tactica Pura and TYM+. On the ratings front, Sunday continued to boost the NFL on FOX, which reports that its week 6 singleheader notched an 11.6/27, to rank, in a tie, as the network’s top singleheader telecast this season. Season to date, the NFL on FOX is averaging a 12.4/26, up 5% over last year. FOX Sports also saw the Astros win over the Yankees propel FS1 to 5,587,000 viewers on FS1, up 20% over last year’s NLCS Game 2 on FOX. Through two games on FOX and FS1, up 24% over last year. CBS Sports Network will serve up a special edition of We Need To Talk tonight at 8p that will explore the current state and direction of women’s sports, focusing on “issues that affect women in sports and the voices and the movements that are pushing the boundaries to create lasting change.” The episode will discuss some of the major movements in the fight for gender equality in sports including Title IX, #MeToo, #SeeHerInSports and Equal Pay. Hosts Tracy Wolfson, Lisa Leslie and Summer Sanders will share some of their personal stories about their career paths both in television and in sports. In addition, CBS Sports announced its SEC on CBS football game for Oct. 26 at 3:30p, picking up Auburn/LSU. Brad Nessler, Gary Danielson and reporter Jamie Erdahl will call the action from Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. ESPN is expanding Hoop Streams to a season-long show with Cassidy Hubbarth returning as the host of Hoop Streams, the on-site digital pregame show. Other talent includes analyst Kendrick Perkins, Chiney Ogwumike, as well as multiplatform ESPN commentators Jorge Sedano and Gary Striewski. The show will debut on Oct. 25, at 7p live from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. 50 years ago today saw the debut of MSG Networks with a game between the New York Rangers and Minnesota North Stars, becoming the first-ever regional sports network in the country.
