The NBA is booking an advance trip to Salt Lake City, where the NBA All-Star 2023 will take place at Vivint Smart Home Arena, home of the Utah Jazz, on Feb. 19, 2023 and marking the 30th anniversary of the 1993 NBA All-Star Game played in city. NBA All-Star oncourt events will tip off on Friday, Feb. 17 with dditional programming taking place at venues throughout the city, including the Salt Palace Convention Center and Huntsman Center on the University of Utah campus. “Along with a rich basketball tradition, Salt Lake City has proven to be a world-class destination for large-scale events and sports competitions,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. “I want to thank the Miller Family and the Utah Jazz organization for their commitment to hosting our All-Star festivities and to developing a program that will leave a lasting impact on the community.” PROGRAMMING
FOX took the night on Tuesday with World Series Game 1 ranking as the evening’s top telecast, scoring 12, 687,000 viewers across all FOX Sports platforms with FOX alone generating over 12 million with a 7.3 household rating. The content drew a 34.1/56 in Houston while DC nabbed a 23.1/42. China’s state broadcaster CCTV opted not to show any NBA games on the opening day of the new season, blacking out both the Pelicans/Raptors game as well as the Clippers/Lakers contest. Streaming partner Tencent also did not carry the early game, but did offer the west coast matchup, according to multiple reports. World TeamTennis detailed plans for the 2020 season, announcing a record amount of player prize money with play spanning July 12-Aug. 1, 2020. The prize money will be bumped to $5 million for the season, with the added $1 million awarded in WTT Playoffs compensation, including a $500,000 bonus to the team that hoists the King Trophy in 2020. The WTT Playoffs return to Orleans Arena at The Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, for the second consecutive year with the WTT's semifinals set for July 31 and the WTT Final hitting the court on Aug. 1. In addition to the prize money increase, World TeamTennis will be announcing two new franchises in the months ahead, boosting the league to a total of 10 teams. The 2019 Rugby World Cup enters the Semi-Finals this weekend with the world’s top-four ranked teams slated to meet at International Stadium Yokohama live on NBCSN. In addition to NBCSN’s live coverage, both matches will be available live, commercial-free and on-demand through NBC Sports Gold’s “Rugby World Cup Pass.” Coverage includes 30-minute pre-match shows, and both matches will also be re-aired later in the day on NBC. Leigh Diffey will host Rugby World Cup programming across NBC Sports properties throughout the knock-out rounds along with Sky Sports’ Rupert Cox, who will also handle the play-by-play call for both Semi-Final matches and the Final. NBC Sports’ rugby analysts Alex Corbisiero and Brian Hightower will serve as game analysts alongside Cox. World Archery opened the books to date from the Hyundai Archery World Cup circuit in 2019 with the five World Cup events and world championships combining to reach over 120 million people. An independent study of key markets reports that over 900 hours of live, delayed and highlights coverage were broadcast from the Hyundai Archery World Cup circuit in 2019. The latest study, which was conducted by IRIS, focused on territories including the USA, Korea, China, Russia, India and Mexico, and Pan-European and Pan-Asian networks.
