SPONSORSHIP & PROMOTION UFC announced a new multi-year global licensing agreement with OPRO, the world’s largest manufacturer of mouthguards. The partnership begins in 2018 and grants the oral protection company the rights to produce UFC branded mouthguards and provide bespoke guards to UFC athletes. As part of this collaboration, OPRO will be able to brand the products and packaging for their Custom Fit, Self-Fit and Snap Fit product ranges, providing oral protection guards to athletes currently on the active roster. Global lifestyle marketing agency MKTG announced the release of an in-depth, state-of-the-consumer study of nearly 3,000 American consumers titled DECODING 2.0 in a move to identify what marketers’ investments resounded most with each audience and why. MKTG conducted the study with its in-house market research agency Sri. Among the findings, Receptives (those highly receptive to sponsor messaging) comprised 23% of all fans; Selectives (those “on-the-fence” in their receptivity – they are amenable to sponsors and value their contributions, but don’t always engage) make up 48% of all fans and Non-receptives (fans who tune sponsors out completely) make up29%. Over the course of the next six months, MKTG will release findings on the different segments surveyed and stories uncovered, through their social channels and on a bespoke website. DIGITAL & STREAMING IMG extended its exclusive worldwide archive partnership with World Rugby in a deal that will include all major events through the end of 2020. The representation agreement will now also cover Women’s Rugby World Cup, World Rugby U20 Championship and the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, will see more than 2,500 hours of content made available on IMG’s digital platform, IMG Replay. This will include archive footage from both upcoming and historic seasons and events. In addition to this newly extended partnership, IMG also now represents World Rugby globally across licensing and marketing. ESPORTS Genius Sports inked an extensive data and integrity partnership with DreamHack in a move that will see Genius Sports not only distribute data and video streaming from DreamHack's esports events in the regulated betting market globally, but also help DreamHack protect its competitions from the threat of match-fixing as DreamHack's Official Data and Integrity Partner. Genius Sports will alert the organization to suspicious betting patterns identified by its sophisticated integrity monitoring system, which boasts an unmatched view of regulated and unregulated markets across the globe. Intel and ESL are upping the ante, announcing that IEM Katowice and ESL One Katowice will dangle a combined prize pool of $1.75 million in 2018.
