Good morning. It’s Monday November 5, 2018 and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.

 
UFC mapped out its lineup of dates, locations, and distribution plans for UFC events for the first quarter of 2019, which marks the beginning of the company’s multi-year agreement with The Walt Disney Company’s Direct-To-Consumer & International segment and ESPN. The first three months features events across ESPN+ and ESPN networks every week for 11 consecutive weeks. ESPN+ will showcase more than 36 hours of exclusive UFC action and ESPN linear networks will add another 18 hours. Jan. 19 will see UFC return to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and the UFC on ESPN+ Fight Night card will represent UFC’s debut on ESPN-branded platforms, with main card bouts streamed live on ESPN+ in both English and Spanish and prelims broadcast nationally on ESPN and ESPN Deportes. Following Brooklyn, UFC 233 takes place at Honda Center in Anaheim on January 26.. Other confirmed events in the first quarter include UFC 235, the promotion’s first event of the year in its home venue, T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, on March 2, and a return to London, England’s O2 Arena for UFC on ESPN+ Fight Night on March 16.
 
 
ON THE AIR

CBS Sports saw its coverage of the SEC on CBS’ Alabama/LSU on Saturday ranked as the highest-rated college football game on any network this season earning an average household metered market rating/share of 6.7/13, for a rise of 81% over last year’s LSU/Alabama game in primetime. Top five rated markets include Birmingham’s 52.6/70, New Orleans’ 38.3/56 and Knoxville’s 19.8/31. CBS’s Georgia/Kentucky showcase drew a rating/share of 2.8/7, up 27% from last year’s equivalent.
 
CBS Sports also unveiled participants for the first game of its SEC on CBS doubleheader on Nov. 10, with Ole Miss/Texas A&M on deck. Carter Blackburn, analysts Aaron Taylor and Rick Neuheisel, along with reporter John Schriffen will call the contest from Kyle Field in College Station, Texas. The second game will feature Mississippi State/Alabama. Brad Nessler, Gary Danielson and reporter Jamie Erdahl will call the contest from Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
 
Meanwhile, FOX Sports saw its carriage of Ohio State’s win over Nebraska on the broadcast channel draw a 3.2 metered market rating, according to Nielsen to rank as the high-rated afternoon game on Saturday. The company also saw West Virginia’s win over Texas score a 3.0 metered market rating.
 
ESPN locked up Sam Alipour, a senior correspondent and host of Hang Time, to a multiyear deal to stay with the company where he will continue to appear on  SportsCenter, ESPN.com, ESPN The Magazine and other platforms. “Sam has the ability to create unique content by putting interesting people into settings that are out of the ordinary,” said ESPN Vice President, Content Strategy, SportsCenter and News, Michael Shiffman. “The resulting pieces not only make fans smile but also help them learn things about athletes he’s hanging with. Sam’s content appeals to a wide variety of sports fans and helps contribute to audience growth across ESPN platforms.”
 
Professional drone racing league DR1 Racing expanded its broadcast of this season’s DHL Champions Series fueled by Mountain Dew to now include Fox Sports LATAM. The deal adds 50 more countries and territories to a global broadcasting footprint that includes Eurosport, Fox Sports Asia, and beIN Sports. Together, DR1 Racing’s Champions Series will broadcast in over 150 countries.
 
The American Cornhole League will see a triple bill across ESPN next month, for the National College Cornhole Championship, spanning Dec. 29-30 out of Myrtle Beach. ESPN3 and the ACLDN will carry early action on Dec. 29 with ESPN2 lining up the ACL – Pro Invitational at 9p on Dec. 30 while ESPN showcases the National College Championship (Doubles) that day at 4p. At least $25,000 in scholarship money will be awarded at the event.

Mari’s devotion to Indianapolis Motor Speedway was only surpassed by her kindness. Her tireless philanthropy and her passion for auto racing leave a legacy that touches the lives of millions,” said NASCAR Chairman and CEO Jim France. “Mari was a true inspiration to us and her leadership and grace impacted us all. From the France family, all of NASCAR, ISC and IMSA, we send our deepest condolences to the Hulman George family as we mourn her loss.”

Caesars Entertainment Corporation announced its partnership with the Las Vegas Stadium, obtaining sponsorship rights with the Raiders when they arrive from Oakland in 2020. The partnership of Caesars Entertainment with the Raiders will get the company branded stadium entrances, along with digital signage and suites.
 
Vankor, an independent energy and commodities company, signed on as entitlement sponsor for spring NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series race beginning in 2019. According to ESPN, the multiyear deal will see the Vankor 350 NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series race make  its debut during the spring weekend for the first time in the history of Texas Motor Speedway.
 
 
DIGITAL & STREAMING

The Center for Sports Analytics at Samford University released a study today based on 7 million US sports fans social media data that shows that the NFL recovery is “in full swing.” Overall relevance of the NFL is up by 9.38% since the midpoint of last season and 29 or the 32 NFL teams have experienced a significant increase. Fans that switched off the NFL over the last few are returning in mass. While TV ratings are showing slight increases, social data is a better measure of cultural trends, according to their numbers.
 
NBC Sports Regional Networks launched the direct-to-consumer product, NBC Sports Gold’sBlazers Pass,” for the 2018-19 season. The product allows fans residing in Portland Trail Blazers territory access to 15 Blazers road games during the 2018-19 NBA season, beginning with the team’s November 23 game against the Warriors. The pass also features enhanced content, including pre- and post- game shows and full replays for all 15 games, as well as Trail Blazers Raw recap shows for all games beginning November 23.
 

ESPORTS

Riot Games reportedly will welcome SK Gaming, North, Rogue, and Movistar Riders as European LCS permanent partners for the 10-team league, according ESPN. The accepted teams are still pending after some “setbacks in negotiations around team participation agreements,” according to the report but would join Fnatic, G2 Esports, Misfits, Schalke 04, and Team Vitality as well as a new team owned by Astralis in the organization. Riot announced it would be moving to a franchising system in Europe in March, making it similar to the NA LCS, which unveiled its permanent partners in December 2017.
 
Esports marketing agency Ader announced plans to blend a livestream of human and animated gamers playing together when Tyler "Ninja" Blevins; Logic; and the characters Rick and Morty combine to play Bethesda Game Studios’ Fallout 76. The livestream will take place on Nov. 8 on Twitch and Mixer at 9p. "We're excited to provide Rick and Morty fans with the opportunity to interact with these iconic characters live as they join Ninja and Logic in the first multiplayer Fallout experience," said Justin Warden, CEO of Ader. "Gaming audiences are interested in new and unique ways to connect with their favorite gamers, so we focus on creating experiences for our brand and publisher partners that are not only highly engaging but also push the boundaries creatively."
 
DreamLeague announced plans to host the third Dota 2 Major of the Pro Circuit season in Stockholm in March. The Major will feature 16 teams competing for $1 million, and 15,000 DPC points.
 
Esports Arena is partnering with Walmart to expand the esports facility operator’s reach to five new locations existing within Walmart stores around the country: Roseville, California; Spokane Valley, Washington; and Colorado Springs, Colorado, with two other also in the works. Each will have league nights during weekdays and tournaments on weekends much like Esports Arena’s existing locations. Meanwhile, Esports Arena associates will assist Walmart customers shopping for gaming products, and Walmart.com will become the exclusive online retailer for Esports Arena’s new OVERPOWERED line of gaming PCs.
