Formula One locked in a new four-year deal with Pirelli as its tire supplier from 2020-23. Following the successful partnership, which was up for renewal at the end of 2019, Chase Carey, Formula 1 Chairman and CEO, said: “Pirelli have been an important and valued partner to Formula 1 since 2011. They are leaders in providing innovative state of the art capabilities. They are a premium brand, a clear global leader in motorsport and our ongoing partnership with them is proof once more of our desire to align F1 with the best in motorsport and beyond. Jaromir Jagr signed on to serve as the official hockey ambassador for the 2022 Olympic Games, taking place in China, according to reports. Jagr has participated in five Winter Olympics and helped the Czechs win gold 20 years ago in Nagano, the first Olympics to feature NHL players.
The first beach volleyball tournament of 2019 will be officially renamed the Fort Lauderdale Major presented by AutoNation, courtesy of a new deal, taking place on Feb. 5-10, 2019. AutoNation previously sponsored Major Series events in Fort Lauderdale in 2015, 2017 and 2018.

Turner Sports will offer refunds to customers who paid $20 for Friday’s PPV showdown between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson after a technical problem forced the company to make the event available free via a live stream. The company issued a statement Saturday night confirming refunds for those who paid $19.99 to stream the match at Shadow Creek on Bleacher Report Live. On Friday, Comcast also said it would offer a $19.99 credit to customers who paid for “The Match” through its Xfinity platform, as did Charter Spectrum, Cox Communications, Dish/Sling TV and AT&T.
NBC Sports Gold will see its Philly Pass add Philadelphia Flyers pregame, postgame, and special programming content to its offerings starting Nov. 29. The addition of the Flyers to Philly Pass will add to the more than 200 pre- and postgame shows, more than 30 hours of studio shows and team-oriented content for all four Philadelphia pro-teams: Philadelphia Eagles, Sixers, Phillies and the Flyers.

The addition of Splyce and the LEC franchise alongside ownership of the Toronto Defiant of the Overwatch League and leading team organizations across Call of Duty, Rocket League, Smite, Paladins, Halo and Starcraft II consolidates OAM into a leading global esports brand joining Cloud9, Optic Gaming and Misfits as the only esports organizations in the world with permanent slots in both League of Legends and the Overwatch League.
ESL announced the launch of the US National Championship, a new program dedicated to showcasing and highlighting the best CS:GO players in the nation. Premiering in early December with season one, ESL in partnership with ESEA, the program will be divided between two weekly shows: Basecamp and The Ascent. Basecamp will run weekly on Mondays, hosted and casted by Mark “boq” Wilson, showcasing live matches and gameplay of the best Rank G games of the week. The Ascent will be broadcast on Fridays, and offer the week's best plays, biggest leaderboard jumps, most interesting stats, clutch moments, and enticing interviews from the players who are all vying for their share of over $150,000 in global prizes. Shows kick-off Friday, December 7 immediately after the Mountain Dew Global Challenge Day 1 at approximately 9:30p.
Twitch is doubling down on TwitchCon, heading to Europe in April of next year for the debut of TwitchCon Europe. The event will take place in Berlin’s CityCube from April 13-14, offering a slate of expo halls, community and industry panels, and more. “TwitchCon was created to celebrate and inspire everyone who plays a role in the Twitch community,” said Kate Jhaveri, Chief Marketing Officer at Twitch, in the announcement. “It’s a vibrant, growing, and global community and we’re excited to bring TwitchCon to Europe for the first time.”
