Collectors Universe Joe Orlando Steps Down

Collectors Universe CEO/President Joe Orlando decided to step down from his role last week. In his “Thank You” column, he discusses the belief that he had in PSA when he started with the company back in 1999. Orlando goes on to discuss how he would go table-to-table at conventions in an attempt to convince others how PSA could improve their collecting experience. Collectors Universe Executive Chairman, Nat Turner will be stepping into the CEO role and will continue towards the company’s ultimate vision.

First College Athlete Signs Autographs under NIL at The National

Spencer Rattler, a University of Oklahoma quarterback, will be at The National Sport Collectors Convention with TRISTAR Productions from July 28-Aug. 1 signing autographs. This marks one of the first college athletes to be paid for signing autographs at the event under the new Name, Image and Likeness rules that went into effect on July 1st. Rattler will be a part of a lineup on July 31st that includes Pete Rose, David Ortiz, Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders and professional wrestling stars Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair.

2021 National Hockey Card Day is July 24

Upper Deck will continue their annual celebration of National Hockey Card Day with their 12th annual NHL set on July 24th!  As supplies last, collectors in the U.S. and Canada can pick up a FREE 2021 Upper Deck National Hockey Card Day pack on Saturday, July 24th. Both the U.S. and Canadian versions consist of five cards per pack, but the contents for each country are different.  

For Canada, the base set will include players that were either born in Canada or play/played for a Canadian team. For the American version, the base set includes stars born in the U.S. or players that have appeared on an American based team. Key chase cards with limited autographs will be randomly inserted into packs.
