Good evening,

Preston’s coronavirus cases are finally heading in the right direction.
It may have taken a while and be only a small decrease, but we will take that for the time being.
This has been announced on the same day that Blackpool joined the ‘party’ - i.e. restrictions throughout the rest of Lancashire are now in place in the resort. There was a sense of inevitability about it, after all many people in Lancashire travel for either work or to see family/friends, so it was unlikely that Blackpool would escape the localised lockdown.
Perhaps this will help to stop some of the confusion around who can do what and with whom. If we are to stick to the rules, we need to know what they are, in the first instance.
It’s going to be a tough ride ahead in Preston. Students have been arriving over the past week or so and university life is not conducive to self-isolation.
But we all need to play our part in this - young and old. The bottom line is we need to protect both the vulnerable and the stop the NHS from being overrun. Surely, we can manage that?
