So now we know.
After much too-ing and fro-ing, the whole of Lancashire has been placed under the tightest Tier 3 restrictions by the Government because of the rising number of coronavirus cases in the county.
Talks around the support package on offer went on for hours and while some of our political leaders accepted it was inevitable, others are still furious, accusing the Government of bullying tactics.
The danger here is that all of the ‘noise’ around this decision distracts us from the seriousness of what we face.
There are more people going into hospital in the region than there were at the time when the entire country went into lockdown in March. And 42,000 of those people died.
None of us wants restrictions in our lives and many of us are still feeling the effects of the months we spent locked down earlier in the year.
But while we can argue about support packages being appropriate or not, something has to be done or many vulnerable people will die because the NHS cannot cope with the volume of cases.
