| | | | | Dec 15, 2020 | | | | | | Good evening, Tomorrow the Government will be making decisions about whether to bring Lancashire - or at least parts of it - out of Tier 3 and move us into Tier 2. This would give our leisure economy a huge boost when it is most needed and give pubs, restaurants and theatres the chance to make back some of the huge sums they have lost throughout 2020. Case numbers of the virus have fallen dramatically throughout Lancashire and so in some ways, lifting restrictions might seem the right course. However, Lancashire’s Director of Public Health is sounding a note of caution over this, believing that if we want to ensure we can see family members over the Christmas period, we need to keep to the Tier 3 restrictions up until December 23. It is a tough message for some to take, not least those whose livelihoods are dependent on people being able to go out and enjoy themselves over the festive period. But unless we want to head into tighter restrictions in January - or worse still, cancel plans for Christmas, we may need to ensure the status quo for a little longer.
