SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Doctrine and Covenants 77:2
Q. What are we to understand by the four beasts, spoken of in the same verse? A. They are figurative expressions, used by the Revelator, John, in describing heaven, the paradise of God, the happiness of man, and of beasts, and of creeping things, and of the fowls of the air; that which is spiritual being in the likeness of that which is temporal; and that which is temporal in the likeness of that which is spiritual; the spirit of man in the likeness of his person, as also the spirit of the beast, and every other creature which God has created.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Harold B. Lee
Harold B. Lee
“In the first place, we have just a hint, just a flash of what a spirit is. A spirit, did you hear Abraham saying, was an organized intelligence. This is the first beginning we have in our understanding of what a spirit is. It is an organized intelligence that lived as a spirit before this world was. . . . All right, now, you see me here as a mature physical man. There is a part of me that you can’t see with your physical eyes—that spiritual part of me that looks out through my eyes and gives me power of movement, and gives me a measure of intellect and intelligence” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Harold B. Lee, p. 11).

TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY
February 1, 2021
1831 - The Prophet Joseph and his wife, Emma, arrived in Kirtland, Ohio, by sleigh.  When the sleigh stopped in front of the Gilbert and Whitney Store, the Prophet walked into the store and said, “Newel K. Whitney!  Thou art the man!”  He then introduced himself and said, “You’ve prayed me here, now what do you want” (History of the Church, 1:146).  The Prophet had seen in vision the Whitneys praying for him to come to Kirtland, Ohio.  The Prophet and his wife stayed with the Whitney family for several weeks after arriving in Kirtland.
