QUOTE OF THE DAY
Howard W. Hunter
Howard W. Hunter
“The Church has the responsibility—and the authority—to preserve and protect the family as the foundation of society. The pattern for family life, instituted from before the foundation of the world, provides for children to be born to and nurtured by a father and mother who are husband and wife, lawfully married. Parenthood is a sacred obligation and privilege, with children welcomed as a “heritage of the Lord” (Ps. 127:3)” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Howard W. Hunter, p. 221).

TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY

1847 - As the original Pioneer company neared the Salt Lake Valley, President Brigham Young became ill with mountain fever.  He and a few men stopped to rest while the rest of the company moved on, covering 16 1/2 miles before camping.  Brigham Young’s group caught up a while later in the day. The company also crossed the Bear River on this day.
