SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY Doctrine and Covenants 1:35-36 |
For I am no respecter of persons, and will that all men shall know that the day speedily cometh; the hour is not yet, but is nigh at hand, when peace shall be taken from the earth, and the devil shall have power over his own dominion. And also the Lord shall have power over his saints, and shall reign in their midst, and shall come down in judgment upon Idumea, or the world.

QUOTE OF THE DAY Ezra Taft Benson |
“Without faith in our Heavenly Father, we cannot be successful. Faith gives us vision of what may happen, hope for the future, and optimism in our present tasks. Where faith is, we do not doubt the ultimate success of the work” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Ezra Taft Benson, p. 71).

TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY July 30 |
1844 - Samuel Smith, brother of the Prophet Joseph Smith, dies of “bilious Fever” just over a month after the martyrdom of his brothers Hyrum and Joseph. Often called the third martyr because the sickness attacked him after being chased by the mob outside of Carthage on the day his brothers were killed. He is buried in the Smith Family Cemetery near his brothers in Nauvoo, Illinois.
