SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY Alma 6:8 |
|
"And Alma went and began to declare the word of God unto the church which was established in the valley of Gideon, according to the revelation of the truth of the word which had been spoken by his fathers, and according to the spirit of prophecy which was in him, according to the testimony of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who should come to redeem his people from their sins, and the holy order by which he was called. And thus it is written. Amen." |

QUOTE OF THE DAY Thomas S. Monson |
"If you do not have a firm testimony of these things, do that which is necessary to obtain one. It is essential for you to have your own testimony in these difficult times, for the testimonies of others will carry you only so far. However, once obtained, a testimony needs to be kept vital and alive through continued obedience to the commandments of God and through daily prayer and scripture study” (“The Power of the Book of Mormon,” Ensign, May 2017). |

TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY June 29 |
|
1844 - Fear of a bounty on the head of the Prophet led Emma to have the real coffins containing the bodies buried secretly in the basement of the unfinished Nauvoo House across the street from the Mansion House at about midnight. The ground was smoothed as it was before the burial so that no one would know they were buried there. (History of the Church, 6:628).
