QUOTE OF THE DAY John Taylor |
|
"Parents, treat your children aright; train them up in the fear of the Lord; they are of more importance to you than many things that you give your attention to. And you, children, obey your parents; respect your fathers and mothers. Your mothers have watched over you, and your fathers are desirous for your welfare, and their hearts and feelings and affections are drawn out towards you. Do not give them pain by departing from correct principles; but walk in the paths of life. And parents, and children, husbands and wives and all people, fear God and put your trust in him and carry out the principles of your holy religion which God has revealed to us"(Teachings of Presidents of the Church: John Taylor, p. 198).

Between These Hills
America had thousands of years of human history before John Cabot arrived. Native Americans had spread across the continent. Apart from massive earthworks, their history was forgotten. But what is forgotten is not lost--if it's recorded. The first night they met, Moroni told Joseph Smith that the "a history of the aborigines of this country... was written and deposited" not far from Joseph's home near Palmyra, New York.

TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY March 16, 2021 |
|
1838 - About this time the Prophet Joseph recorded some thoughts that became known as “The Political Motto for the Church of Latter-day Saints.” It includes such sentiments as: “Peace and good order in Society. Love to God, and good will to men. All good and wholesome laws, virtue and truth above all things” and “woe to tyrants, mobs, aristocracy, anarchy, and toryism, and all those who invent or seek out unrighteous and vexatious law suits.” It concludes with the words, “Sacred is the memory of that blood which bought for us our liberty” (History of the Church, 3:9).
