Pride
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Helaman 3:34-35
And they were lifted up in pride, even to the persecution of many of their brethren. Now this was a great evil, which did cause the more humble part of the people to suffer great persecutions, and to wade through much affliction. Nevertheless they did fast and pray oft, and did wax stronger and stronger in their humility, and firmer and firmer in the faith of Christ, unto the filling their souls with joy and consolation, yea, even to the purifying and the sanctification of their hearts, which sanctification cometh because of their yielding their hearts unto God.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Wilford Woodruff
“You have never seen a day, you never will see a day, in time or in eternity, when you can get beyond the need of the protection and care of God. You need it all the way through your lives. When our young men, or our old men, or our maidens, feel that they have arrived at a point that they are independent of the Lord, they will find that they are greatly mistaken” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Wilford Woodruff, p. 104).
Between These Hills

America had thousands of years of human history before John Cabot arrived. Native Americans had spread across the continent. Apart from massive earthworks, their history was forgotten. But what is forgotten is not lost--if it's recorded. The first night they met, Moroni told Joseph Smith that the "a history of the aborigines of this country... was written and deposited" not far from Joseph's home near Palmyra, New York.

TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY
March 17, 2021
1842 - The Prophet Joseph Smith organizes the Female Relief Society of Nauvoo, with Emma Smith as president, Sarah M. Cleveland as first counselor, Elizabeth Ann Whitney as second counselor, and Eliza R. Snow as secretary.  The Society had its inception when several women, led by Sarah M. Kimball, organized to make shirts for the men working on the Nauvoo Temple.  They planned to organize like other women’s groups of the day, but the Prophet Joseph stated they needed to be organized after the same pattern as the priesthood.  Joseph stated that by selecting Emma as the president, it fulfilled an earlier revelation identifying her as an “elect lady.”  Joseph also stated that “the Church was never perfectly organized until the women were thus organized” (Relief Society Magazine, March 1919, p. 129).  The organizations objective was “the relief of the poor, the destitute, the widow and the orphan, and for the exercise of all benevolent purposes” (History of the Church, 4:567).
