He Lives! and Because of Him, So Shall We!
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
2 Nephi 10:25

Wherefore, may God raise you from death by the power of the resurrection, and also from everlasting death by the power of the atonement, that ye may be received into the eternal kingdom of God, that ye may praise him through grace divine. Amen.

Barton M. Golding, owner and editor of the Latter Day Light website and daily email, passed away on the morning of November 5th, 2021.
My amazing brother, Barton Golding passed away quietly. He has suffered much for the last several years, but has kept his testimony strong and his love for the gospel, the prophet Joseph, and most importantly his Savior. He was an example of "enduring to the end" in his faith and dedication to the gospel. He was a loving brother, kind and caring uncle, and true friend to all who truly knew him. He loved Nauvoo and could tell you anything you wanted to know about Nauvoo and the Prophet Joseph. He spent his life learning about them. He will be greatly missed, but I am so happy that he is now able to walk again and has been reunited with my dad and many other loved family members and friends. Till we meet again, brother. I love you! Amy Hart

Thank you to all who have been faithful readers and supporters of Barton through the years!

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Joseph Smith
“The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the Apostles and Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; and all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to it. But in connection with these, we believe in the gift of the Holy Ghost, the power of faith, the enjoyment of the spiritual gifts according to the will of God, the restoration of the house of Israel, and the final triumph of truth…. As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive;’ all shall be raised from the dead . The Lamb of God hath brought to pass the resurrection, so that all shall rise from the dead. …Christ Himself has assuredly risen from the dead; and if He has risen from the dead, He will, by His power, bring all men to stand before Him: for if He has risen from the dead the bands of the temporal death are broken that the grave has no victory. If then, the grave has no victory, those who keep the sayings of Jesus and obey His teachings have not only a promise of a resurrection from the dead, but an assurance of being admitted into His glorious kingdom; for, He Himself says, ‘Where I am there also shall my servant be’ [John 12:26].” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith p. 50-51).

TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY
November 2, 2021
1833 - The shores of the Missouri River in Jackson County, Missouri, were lined with Latter-day Saints waiting for their turn on the ferry to cross over the river into Clay County where they would find temporary peace. Hundreds of people in tents and wagons struggled to survive under a heavy, cold rain. Husbands were trying to locate their families they had been separated from when the mobs attacked. The Prophet Joseph records, “The scene was indescribable, and would have melted the hearts of any people upon the earth, except the blind oppressor, and the prejudiced and ignorant bigot” (History of the Church, 1:437).

Latter Day Light began in 2000 as an emailed newsletter and has since grown to include a facebook page and website. The email list has grown to almost 13,000 readers and is enjoyed by many around the world. In January 2018, the website was added to the LatterDayLight family as a place to archive items from the newsletter and provide additional content for the reader.
Barton Golding is the owner/editor. He began writing online in the mid 1990's for the website, www1stward.com, and later as editor for Mormontown.com. When Mormontown closed, Barton wrote articles that were posted on Mormonvillage.com. Then, in 2000, he decided to move forward with his own site and started LatterDayLight.com. With the permission of the owner of Mormontown.com, Fred Benson, he began by sending emails to people on the list he had helped build at Mormontown, and that became the basis for the founding of LatterDayLight.
Barton spent his teenage years in Nauvoo working with his father to restore many of the buildings in Nauvoo. He studied the life of the Prophet Joseph and the history of the church to great extent and loved them both dearly! He served a mission to New Zealand and lived in Utah until he returned to live in Nauvoo in 2012. He lived in Nauvoo, until he had congestive heart failure and other health issues in April 2018. He moved back to Utah where family could help care for him. Then in October 2019, he had a stroke and became bedridden. This daily email gave him a reason to live and it was his joy! He was very appreciative of the many emails he has received over the years from his readers. He has tried to build up the LatterDayLight.com website content, including pioneer stories, articles and memes, and had a desire to provide uplifting thoughts and information through the website to his readers. He was motivated each day by them and by his love of the Gospel.
