The big (and very bad) news of today is the release of the European Commission's proposal to deregulate new GMOs, exempting them from risk assessment, traceability requirements, and GMO labelling. The proposal was roundly condemned by a wide spectrum of society – from civil society groups, to industry associations, politicians, and scientific organisations.
