A BBC report tells how Sofia Gatica, a shy Argentine woman living near GM soy fields sprayed with glyphosate and other chemicals, turned unthinkable pain into a relentless investigation into why her neighbours kept dying. In the face of threats and violence, she then founded a campaign group called The Mothers of Ituzaingó – to halt the spraying and expel Monsanto. BBC Sounds

The Argentine movie El Agronomo has just had its world premiere. It tells the story of an agronomist who moves with his family to one of the many rural areas of Argentina plagued by pesticide spraying, often on GMO crops. Because this feature film explores the harsh realities of the sprayed peoples of rural Argentina, it has predictably come under immediate attack by staunch defenders of the toxic agribusiness model, reports the Transnational Network of Sprayed Peoples. The attacks on the film are just one more example of what people constantly live with in Latin America's sprayed communities. Threats, insults, intimidation, pressure, and even physical violence are used, with total impunity, by the very same people who spray toxic agrochemicals. @GMWatch on Twitter/X

In an unprecedented action, four organisations from Latin American countries and a German initiative denounced the biochemical company Bayer to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) over the impacts of the pesticide glyphosate on the environment and human health. The complaint was made to the National Contact Point (NCP) in Germany, where Bayer's headquarters are located in Leverkusen, 560 kilometers from Berlin. The body is responsible for promoting the OECD guidelines for multinational companies, as well as dealing with cases through non-judicial complaint mechanisms. The complaint was filed online, but a symbolic action was held on Thursday 25 April in front of the German Ministry of Economy. BrasildeFato
