In response to requests, we've now produced a more compact version, with the benefit of technical advice from molecular geneticist Dr Michael Antoniou. In its latest report on glyphosate residues on common children’s foods, EWG found that, like oats and wheat, chickpeas and other beans and lentils come with a dose of Roundup, a weedkiller formerly manufactured by Monsanto, now Bayer. EWG is calling on food manufacturers and grocery stores to source beans, peas, lentils and grains that are not treated with glyphosate as a pre-harvest drying agent, because using this probable carcinogen is unnecessary and harmful. A growing number of municipalities in the east of the Netherlands are considering banning the use of controversial glyphosate-based weedkillers such as Roundup on the agricultural land that they own and lease to farmers, according to a survey. NLTimes.nl

 

 

Commenting on official figures from Brazil showing a 28% increase in the number of fires in the Amazon region in July compared with the same month last year, Niki Mardas, executive director of Global Canopy, said: "More companies and financial institutions need to follow the few real leaders, making clear commitments and taking real action to eliminate deforestation from their supply chains and investments.
