The webinar held yesterday by the Non-GMO Project, "New Techniques, Same GMOs", was not able to be live streamed on Facebook as planned because the Facebook link stopped working just as the broadcast was about to start. However, the event still went ahead and the Non-GMO Project will release a recording in due course. We'll keep you informed when it appears.
 
 
Argentina has become the first country to approve the growth and consumption of genetically modified wheat, the country's agriculture ministry announced. The ministry's scientific commission said in a statement that it had approved a drought-resistant variety of wheat in the world's fourth-largest exporter of the crop. Yahoo! In a new survey, nearly nine in ten (88%) people said that the UK should not allow hormone treated beef, three quarters (75%) said the same about chlorinated chicken, while over half (59%) said they wished to maintain the ban on GM crops. [GMW: In fact, GMOs aren't banned in imported food and feed, but they have to be approved at the EU level and labelled. GMO cultivation has only not been allowed in the UK because only one GM crop has been approved for cultivation at the EU level and that isn't suitable for the UK.
