The pandemic has been hard on everyone. Two years of flip-flopping instruction and long stretches in quarantine are no one’s idea of the residential-college experience. 

For students like Olivia Trice who already face barriers to completing college, the disruptions can be a threat to getting their degrees.

Recruiters working in technology these days do not receive candy, flowers, or thank-yous. Recruiters are lucky if they can get someone on the phone—if they receive so much as an email in response. 

Meanwhile, technology workers need to court no one: Along with microchips, toilet paper, and COVID tests, tech workers will be recalled as one of the great, pressing shortages of this pandemic.

For Delaware State University, the acquisition of Wesley College was a remarkable event: No other Historically Black College and University in the country had ever acquired a private institution, much less one that previously held the title of a Predominately White Institution.

Now, more than seven months after Wesley’s closure, the two institutions are still hard at work unifying their cultures to build a future for their students.
