Skimm'd with limes and salt

  QUOTE OF THE DAY

"Or you're fired" - Lindsay Lohan wants her staff to wear matching shoes. Otherwise, they can't sit with her.

TRUST ISSUES

The Story

China is in the middle of a vaccine scandal.

Tell me more, tell me more.

Kids are required by the law to get vaccinations in China. Last week, it came out that a major drug producer distributed hundreds of thousands of faulty vaccines for things like rabies as well as diphtheria, whooping cough, and tetanus.

Not good.

Nope. The co's been accused of faking data and has been ordered to recall vaccines. The country's food and drug admin is investigating. And some of the co's top execs are being questioned by police.

How are people taking the news?

They're freaking the eff out. Parents are taking to social media to voice their outrage. And China's no. 2 promised to crack down on the people involved.

China's trying to become a BFD in the pharma biz. But this is not the only vaccine scandal the country's had in the past few years. This one is threatening people's trust in the gov and China's drug industry. And parents are holding tight for what it might mean for their kids.

REPEAT AFTER ME...

What people are watching...

Greece. Yesterday, wildfires swept near Athens, killing at least 49 people and injuring more than 150. They're the country's deadliest wildfires in more than a decade. Greece declared a state of emergency and is asking the EU for help. Meanwhile, a dam in southeastern Laos collapsed yesterday. Several people have been killed, and hundreds are still missing. Nearby neighborhoods flooded, sweeping homes away. The dam was still in the process of being built before it collapsed. And was reportedly expected to start operating later this year. Rescue efforts are still underway.

What to say when you like someone you met on Bumble...

Hello, endangered species. Republican lawmakers are trying to take a red pen to the Endangered Species Act - the law that helps to protect species on the 'at risk' list. It was created in the '70s by Republican prez Richard Nixon - partially to help save the bald eagle. Because, America. Now the Trump admin has proposed a plan to consider the costs involved with adding a new species to the list before investing in saving it. And could downplay climate change as a reason for adding a species to the list. Republican lawmakers are pushing similar changes to the act in Congress. Supporters say the edits would save the US money and help out businesses - like oil, logging, and ranching. Critics say 'what about science...and the animals?'

What to say when you hear Alphabet is googling 'how to celebrate Q2 earnings'...

Tesla is googling 'halp halp halp.' The company is burning money so quickly it reportedly asked suppliers for a refund to help make its cars profitable. Speaking of co's driving shareholders crazy, Papa John's. Earlier this month, the founder resigned after it came out that he used the n-word in a conference call. Now, the board is trying to prevent him from forcing his way back into a leadership position by buying up more slices of the company pie. Speaking of co's looking to move forward, Nike. Last year, female employees sent around a survey about unequal pay and workplace misconduct. Now, after complaints to Just Do Something about this, the company's raising salaries for thousands of employees. Check.

What to say when your friend lets you text all your work-related grievances...

ALL-CAPS TIME. The White House is doubling down on messaging from President Trump's Iran tweet. To recap: Iran threatened the US. The US threatened back. AND CAPS WERE INVOLVED. Speaking of threats, the Trump admin is thinking of taking away security clearances from Obama-era officials who don't work there anymore and criticize him about Russia. Speaking of Russia, a judge is pushing back the start date for former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort's trial. You'll see him in court next week facing charges for bank and tax fraud - plus these five people who have agreed to testify against him in exchange for immunity. Oh, and say 'hi' to the new Veterans Affairs secretary.

What to say once you've handed in your two weeks' notice...

Nothing matters anymore - time to troll.
