DAISY Low-Cost Assistive Technology Project

We are delighted to share news of a project we’re delivering with support from the Microsoft AI for Accessibility program. Our Low-Cost Assistive Technology Project will deliver an innovative solution for people creating accessible content in the developing world and is anticipated to have broader benefits globally.
The project has a variety of elements, but at its core is a lightweight but powerful conversion tool capable of creating accessible publications in a range of formats, including files designed specifically to be read on low-cost devices, building on DAISY Pipeline technology.
We have further details about the Low-Cost Assistive Technology Project on our website, and we look forward to bringing you updates in the coming months.

Accessible Publishing in Africa

DAISY recently delivered a series of webinars on accessible publishing fundamentals as the first in a range of training and support activities, designed to increase the adoption of accessible publishing in Africa. Recordings of the fundamentals webinars delivered in English, French and Arabic are now available to all. This is part of a wider initiative driven by the Africa Publishing Innovation Fund (APIF), a grant-giving program co-led by the philanthropic organization Dubai Cares working with the International Publishers Association (IPA).

Knowledge Base Feedback

The DAISY Accessible Publishing Knowledge Base is a resource used by many people creating mainstream and specialist publications, providing descriptions, examples, and advice for a wide range of EPUB and HTML features, supporting the creation of accessible publications. Since its launch, the Knowledge Base has grown and evolved. We're always interested in your feedback on any aspect of DAISY activity, but we've created a form encouraging comments on the Knowledge Base to help guide future development.
