Shaping the Future of Inclusive Reading
Over the last few months we have been working to identify the user requirements for reading apps, not just the basics, but working to document aspirational and ambitious functionality that will inform developers and service providers and ultimately benefit user with print disabilities for many years to come. You can help shape the future of inclusive reading by following this work and getting involved. Learn more in our Update on Reading Apps User Requirements.
Cost Comparison of AI Speech Services
We know from many of our members and the wider DAISY community that there is a great deal of interest in exploring what AI can offer accessible publishing. As part of our series to research and answer some of the common questions, we have explored a few of the leading services to provide a cost comparison of AI Text To Speech.
DAISY AGM and Board Meetings
Each year we host a free webinar to enable the wider DAISY community to attend our Annual General Meeting and our listen to details of our highlighted work. This year we're also opening up our Board Meetings to observers, with limited options to attend in person, and a live webinar that anyone can attend. Both meetings take place on June 5th and we look forward to seeing you there.
Reading Mainstream Library Books on Braille Devices
Technical protection measures are sometimes implemented by rightsholders to safeguard their digital property, and historically this has presented barriers to assistive technology. Readium LCP from EDRLab is an alternate protection solution that actively supports specialist reading devices, enabling access to otherwise restricted content. Learn more about how LCP supports access to protected work.
We would love to hear your suggestions and feedback to help shape what we do, and we're always keen to share your news, events and developments with the global DAISY community. Just send the details to: news@daisy.org
