| | Prayers, songs greet Dakota Riders in Mankato 162 years after hangings | In a revival of a tradition which seemed to have ended two years ago, participants in not one but two Dakota Rides arrived in Mankato Thursday. The event commemorates 38 Dakota men hanged on the day after Christmas in 1862 following the U.S.-Dakota War, and two other Dakota men hanged later. | |

You might have won a million dollars — and time is running out to claim that prize. 🔋 Tribal Advocacy Council on Energy aims to ease power woes in Indian Country. Tribal elected officials say the cost of energy on tribal lands is higher than it should be. So they formed a new advocacy body to make policy recommendations to state and federal agencies on energy issues. 🚓 St. Paul parents arrested in connection with toddler's death. St. Paul police said officers found the 1 1/2-year-old child unresponsive Wednesday afternoon at a home in the city’s Dayton’s Bluff neighborhood. Police said the child’s death may have involved drugs.
🏛️ ‘A trailblazer in every way’: Former Rep. Mary Murphy, long-serving Minnesota House member, dies at 85. She was passionate about topics like women’s rights, labor and advocacy issues, health care and criminal justice. Murphy initiated legislation to to fund statewide juvenile correction facilities and championed programs like Head Start and DARE.
🐈 House cat died after eating pet food that tested positive for bird flu. Northwest Naturals, a pet food company based in Portland, Ore., said Tuesday it had voluntarily recalled one batch of its Feline Turkey Recipe raw frozen pet food. The pet food is sold in several states, including Minnesota. |
