'He became what true Eldership is about' |
|
This week, we remember Uncle Jack Charles, the Victorian Aboriginal elder and veteran actor who died aged 79. Since we heard the news on Tuesday, tributes have poured in for the Boon Wurrung, Dja Dja Wurrung, Woiwurrung and Yorta Yorta man. In this newsletter, we're sharing a reflection from Daniel Browning, the editor of Indigenous Radio at the ABC. "I revered him for the mere fact of his life, and the way he embodied tenacity and the will to survive," he writes. Read the full tribute here. We also look back on the work of the giant of French new wave cinema, Jean-Luc Godard, by revisiting a panel discussion focusing on his feature films. Plus, some news about this year's Boyer Lectures: the ABC has announced lawyer, academic, activist and leader Noel Pearson will deliver the series this year. Find out more and stay tuned for the the broadcast later this year. Until next time, Rosie Ryan, digital editor Enjoy getting ABC RN in your inbox? Invite your friends to sign up too! |
