AM Thema vom 11.11.2018 Liebe Leserinnen und Leser, ein Galaxy F hat Samsung in dieser Woche in der Eröffnungs-Keynote der Entwicklerkonferenz SDC18 nicht vorgestellt. Aber ein "Infinity Flex" genanntes flexibles, faltbares Display für ein solches "Smartphone-Modell der Zukunft" sowie eine neue übersichtlichere und die Einhandbedienung von Galaxy-Smartphones erleichternde Benutzeroberfläche, die per Update für die Modelle der beiden jüngsten Galaxy-S- und Galaxy-Note-Generationen kommt. Durch das faltbare "Infinity Flex Display" lässt sich das Smartphone im zusammengeklappten, kompakten Format oder auseinander geklappt in Tablet-Größe nutzen. Das zusammengeklappte Smartphone hat ein 4,58 Zoll großes Display mit einer Auflösung von 1.960 x 840 Pixel, das große Hauptdisplay stellt auf 7,3 Zoll Bilddiagonale 2.152 x 1.536 Pixel dar. Der große Bildschirm soll sich vor allem für den Medienkonsum, fürs Browsen auf Websites und fürs Multitasking eignen. Beim Aufklappen schaltet die Darstellung der geöffneten Apps nahtlos von der kleinen auf die große Anzeige um ("App Continuity") um, im Vollformat können drei Anwendungen gleichzeitig dargestellt werden ("Multi Active Window"). Interessanterweise zeigte Samsung in der Keynote auch eine Roadmap mit Notch-Displays als Zwischenstufe vor dem Falt-Display. Dabei handelt es sich um flächenfüllende Displays mit kleinen Spielarten der Aussparung im Anzeigefeld für Frontkamera und Sensoren. "Infinity U" beinhaltet beispielsweise eine halb oval geformte Notch à la Essential Phone, "Infinity V" eine eckige Variante und "Infinity O" eine wie beim Asus Zenfone 6 seitlich sitzende runde Notch. Das neue Oberflächendesign One UI will Samsung Anfang 2019 zunächst auf dem Galaxy S9 (Plus) und dem Galaxy Note 9 einführen. Ein Betaprogramm, an dem auch Kunden in Deutschland teilnehmen können, startet noch in diesem November. Dafür anmelden kann man sich über die Samsung-Members-App. Das minimalistische Design der neuen Benutzeroberfläche hält die wichtigsten Inhalte in der unteren Hälfte des Bildschirms fest und soll so übersichtlicher sein sowie die Bedienung des Smartphones mit einer Hand komfortabler machen. EMUI 9 begonnen. Insgesamt acht Smartphone-Modelle mit dem Chipsatz Kirin 970 hat der chinesische Hersteller für das Update vorgesehen. Das Huawei P20 Lite, das es derzeit zum günstigen Aktionspreis von 249 Euro zu kaufen gibt und für das es nach früheren Angaben auch ein Update auf EMUI 9 geben sollte, taucht in der neuen Auswahl nicht auf. Was das für das P20-Lite-Update bedeutet, ist derzeit nicht klar. Der japanische Hersteller Sony rollt bereits die zweite Android-9-Update-Welle aus.
