Here are some highlights of insights we found particularly useful: 1. Prevalence of Tape Technology Large enterprises, cloud solution providers, research institutions and government agencies will no longer view tape as just an offline resource in off-site locations, but will increasingly turn to tape-based solutions for petabyte and exabyte data storage and active. Tape will continue to prevail over the next decade due to its technological maturity, cost efficiency, ultra-low power consumption, data security and long-term durability. 2. Increased Investment in Long-Term Video Retention Object storage, tape storage, and tiering software will increase in usage. The implementation of these cost-effective ways for long-term video data retention will be driven by regulatory requirements, pressure from senior management and greater IT involvement in the video surveillance infrastructure. 3. Securing Endpoints to Protect Against Ransomware Offline storage for long-term archiving with tape will continue to become more popular as a very cost-effective complement to the cloud (offsite copy) when used onsite (offline) for recovery from a ransomware attack. 4. Growth in Shared Storage Shared storage with integrated solutions will increase in usage for remote and on-set content production. Correcting mistakes in post-production will be eliminated by editing content on set and feeding it to shared storage, where it can be shared immediately. Webinar Recording: Backup & Archive of GB Labs with P5With a choice of storage formats across LTO tape, cloud and disk, Archiware P5 has you covered for flexible Backup and Archive workflows. Running natively under GB Labs CORE.4 OS, P5 is tightly integrated with GB Labs storage platforms, including SPACE, Echo and FastNAS. P5 provides all config and browsing of data via an easily accessed web interface, for protection of your productions and business continuity. Watch the webinar recording to learn more about the integration and see a live demo of the solution! Archiving with axle AI and Archiwareaxle AI has a direct integration with Archiware P5. With axle’s P5 module, users can archive directly from axle. Once archived, Archiware sends details of the LTO tape information back to axle, which users can view as custom archive metadata. Learn more in this helpful blog post by axle and watch the video! How Best to Backup and Archive Files to Cloud StorageFrom time to time, we are asked if P5 will copy/replicate individual files from a filesystem to a cloud object store, where one file is stored as one object. This seems a natural way to work, since cloud storage works with files, which we’re familiar with. By design, P5 does not support using cloud storage in this way. The thinking behind this implementation choice is explained in our blog article with reference to cloud object stores, filesystems and the differences therein. Discover more on the Archiware Blog!
