Daylight Talk by Liene Jākobsone

The 2024 Daylight Talk series kicks off with ‘Light, Views, Transparencies’ by Liene Jākobsone in collaboration with the Art Academy of Latvia.

Discussing some of the practice’s projects, the lecture will reveal a significant part of the conceptual approach of Sampling: the exploration of how architecture unfolds in the eyes of its inhabitants and what unexpected and unusual experiences it can offer.

Dina Suhanova, researcher at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Design and Architecture at the Art Academy of Latvia will present the talk and moderate the Q&A session.

About Liene Jākobsone

Liene Jākobsone is the founding partner of the architecture and design office Sampling. Sampling has carried out a vast range of projects: buildings and reconstructions, development concepts for larger territories, as well as exposition and product designs. Its projects have been extensively published and received a number of awards, prizes and other kinds of recognitions.

Daylight Talks is a series of free, online video lectures curated by Daylight and Architecture and organised in partnership with prominent architectural schools around the world. The talks present architects and educators that are working consciously with daylight in their projects or educational programmes.

‘Daylight Talks´ is organised by the VELUX Group in collaboration with individual schools of architecture and endorsed by the International Union of Architects (UIA) and the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE).

The International Union of Architects (UIA) is an international non-governmental organisation based in Paris. Established in 1948, it is the only organisation representing architects across the globe working to unify architects, influence public policies on construction and development, and advance architecture in service to the needs of society.
