| Gift of Jazz Presents: A Centennial Tribute to Sarah Vaughan feat. Myra WarrenSunday, March 24 - 6:30PM
Many of us can imagine Sarah Vaughanâs iconic voice in an instant. Born in 1924 in New Jersey, Vaughanâs vocal career spanned more than four decades. After growing up surrounded by music, when Vaughan was 18, her friends dared her to enter the famed Wednesday Night Amateur Contest at Harlemâs Apollo Theater. She sang âBody and Soul,â and won first prize. In the audience that night was the singer Billy Eckstine. Six months later, she had joined Eckstine in Earl Hinesâs big band along with jazz legends Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker.
We are celebrating the Centennial year of Sarah Vaughan with a performance of her music by Denver vocalist Myra Warren.

| Ethan IversonThursday, March 28 - 6:30PM & 9:00PM
There are a number of elements on Technically Acceptable, the second Blue Note Records release from pianist/composer Ethan Iverson, that would feel equally at home during any point in the labelâs storied history. Thereâs an ample helping of the blues, a tune built on rhythm changes, spirited trio interactions, a reimagined song from the hit parade, even a rendition of Thelonious Monkâs iconic ââRound Midnight.â
