Christian McBride is an eight-time Grammy Award winning bassist/composer and the host of NPR’s Jazz Night in America. Since the early 1990’s Christian McBride has recoded on over 300 dates as a sideman, and has been bandleading since his debut recording in 1995. His group Christian McBride and Inside Straight released their most recent album “Live at the Village Vanguard” in November 2021. This will be a world class show you won’t want to miss!

Called a “keyboard wizard” by the New Yorker, singer, songwriter, and pianist Bob Malone has amassed an international fan-base through years of touring and nine critically acclaimed album releases. For this Dazzle exclusive show he will be joined by four time Blues Music Awards Horn Instrumentalist of the Year and BMA Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year nominee Deanna Bogart.

The Burroughs

Steeped in classic soul standards and outfitted with modern flair, The Burroughs are a nine piece band with a powerhouse sound that has been electrifying audiences across Colorado and beyond. Since 2013, the band has lit up stages with their trademark brand of “Sweaty Soul Music,” quickly earning their rightful place as one of the best live bands in the region. The Burroughs have played prestigious festivals and venues including Salmonfest Alaska, Bohemian Nights New West Fest, Denver’s Underground Music Showcase, and the Mishawaka.

On May 19th, trumpeter and educator, Shawn Williams, will present the ever captivating music of Lee Morgan! We hope you’ll join us that evening at 6pm at the Denver Press Club as Shawn shares stories of the life and music of Lee Morgan.

This is a new style of event for the Gift of Jazz! There will be a food truck outside the Press Club for patrons to purchase food and a bar inside the venue to purchase drinks. Tickets do not include food or drink.

Two-time Grammy winner violinist Mads Tolling, six-time DownBeat Magazine International Critics Poll winner guitarist Mimi Fox, and internationally acclaimed bassist and vocalist Jeff Denson, have forged their musical talents in a new group, the San Francisco String Trio. This super group, made up of three dazzling virtuosos, has come together to create an eclectic, riveting mixture of beautiful and passionate music. Together they have developed The Sgt. Pepper Project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of the groundbreaking Beatles album. The trio’s album, May I Introduce to You, received four stars in DownBeat Magazine, and it is available for purchase this evening at Dazzle.

Pianist, composer, and Artistic Director for Cuba’s Jazz Plaza Santiago Festival, Roberto Fonseca has toured the world’s most prestigious venues with Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club and the legendary Omara Portuondo. Combining everything from jazz and classical music to rap, funk, reggaeton and electronica, Fonseca is ripping up the rule book. He celebrates the rich musical traditions of the island’s past, with a vision of where Cuban music is headed in the future, entwining folkloric and modern sounds. There’s a new generation of artists reinvigorating the Cuban music scene and Fonseca is at the forefront, leading this cultural renaissance.
