This unique show combines stories and music to explore the lives and work of two of the greatest legends of jazz: Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington. Together they created some of the most important recordings in jazz history, but there’s a lot more to the story. More than just friends, the music reflects the depth of their mutual affection. To music fans worldwide Dotsero translates to “A no nonsense thrill ride of energy and excitement” that few artists in the genre have been able to match. Taking their name from a small mountain town in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, Dotsero means “Something Unique”. Formed in 1984 the Dotsero Band, brothers Stephen and David Watts set sail on the contemporary jazz circuit with a vengeance. Over the years Dotsero founding member David retired from the scene leaving the band solely in the hands of front man, sax man Steve Watts.

The Matt Skellenger Group

This one of a kind group from Denver performs the original music of Matt Skellenger. The group’s instrumentation is a unique mixture of acoustic instruments that are centuries old(Tabla, Ghatam, Cajon, Trumpet, Trombone, Drums, Conch Shell), with modern electric instruments and effects (Electric Bass, Pedal Steel Guitar, Effects Pedals). The music blends jazz, world, funk and fusion influences to create a sound unlike anything you have heard. Matt’s music has been featured on TV, in film and is regularly played on the radio on 89.3 KUVO in Denver.
