Dazzle Summer Kickoff Jam Session

As Denver’s premiere jazz venue, Dazzle would like to welcome out of town guests and first time Denver visitors to our Summer Kickoff Jazz Jam Session! At this all ages event, we welcome visiting musicians to sit in with our House band to give visiting musicians a fun and professional experience. Musicians will be able to choose from a carefully curated list of jazz standards for the pro jam event. A sign up sheet will be at the club where musicians will need to get on the first come first serve list so that our event co-ordinator can organize the show.

This event will be hosted by LA jazz star Rob Mullins and NYC drummer Liam Zham.

Ben Markley Big Band with Ari Hoenig

The Ben Markley Big Band with Ari Hoenig will be performing their album release performance of “Ari’s Funhouse!” The repertoire will consist of pieces from some of Ari’s most well known albums including The Painter, Bert’s Playground, and Punk Bop.

Kind Folk Quartet

Since its inception in 2014, Kind Folk has endured against all odds to create poignant, thoughtful music. After a series of impromptu sessions in a small Brooklyn apartment followed by a string of performances in New York, the group recorded and released their debut album “Why Not” on Fresh Sound Records in 2018. Being called “a new jazz supergroup” (Something Else), the album was praised by critics as “a selfless statement of the highest order” (All About Jazz).

Keyon Harrold

Keyon Harrold was born and raised in Ferguson, MO, the St. Louis suburb that tore into America’s national consciousness in 2014 with the police shooting of Michael Brown and the bitter protests and riots that followed. While Ferguson looms large in Harrold’s album The Mugician, it examines our troubled times through a far wider lens than any one tragedy. Sweeping and cinematic, the music draws on elements ofjazz, classicval, rock, blues, and hip hop to create something uniquely modern, unmistakably American.

Anderies/Lamb Collaboration Project

The collaboration between Joe Anderies and Chuck Lamb has been going on for close to 30 years now and has brought the instrumental and compositional talents of both to many dynamic, explosive performances. Original compositions by Joe and Chuck will be the core of the show with several premier works to be presented. Chuck currently resides in Saratoga Springs NY and has been touring for years with the famed Brubeck Brothers Band. Joe continues to be on the forefront of jazz education on the Front Range where he has pioneered many jazz collaborations and is currently on the Board of the famed CCJA organization.

Purnell Steen & the Five Points Ambassadors

Purnell Steen and The Five Points Ambassadors (also known as LeJazz Machine) is a band dedicated to playing and preserving the music of Denver’s legendary Five Points neighborhood. The Blues-oriented Hard Bop music is basically Swing style. Denver’s own scintillating Myra Warren rounds out the ensemble. Celebrating Juneteenth has been a long tradition for the Five Points Ambassadors, and they will definitely Swing and Sway the Five Points Way! Ever the storyteller, Purnell will share the histories of the Black artists who have worked and played in Five Points.
