All Things Jazz

Dear ,

Hello to all of our new subscribers!

This is our monthly newsletter that takes a deep dive into all things jazz!

March’s newsletter focuses on Women’s History Month through jazz.

Jazz is a uniquely American music style, with its roots in the Black community. Women have always been a part of the jazz tradition, but historically female instrumentalists haven’t had equal visibility. It excites us to see more representation, especially knowing that these women are creating their own history.

Arturo GĂłmez (KUVO) Interviews Dawn Clement

Arturo Gómez, KUVO’s Music Director, interviews keys and vocalist Dawn Clement violinist about her upcoming show 'Esthesis Quartet' at Dazzle at Baur’s on March 24 at 6:00pm.

Tickets at https://dazzledenver.com/fbevent/esthesis-quartet/

Esthesis means the sensation of touch and this quartet started over Zoom during the quarentine, when there was a great lack of touch. Dazzle loves to celebrate the creativity that was cultivated during this time and 'Esthesis Quartet' plays original jazz with a reckless abandon that shakes the preconceptions of traditional instrumentation roles. They treat each other’s compositions with understanding, respect and a treacherous amount of freedom, leading to musical explorations that resolve in unexpected directions.

These four women help us celebrate Women's History Month.

Elsa Nilsson – Flutes and Pedals
Dawn Clement – Keys and Voice
Emma Dayhuff – Bass
Tina Raymond – Drums
