Like many of us, private markets have had a hard time in 2020.

Compared to the first three quarters of last year, total deal value is down over 20%. Total private exit value and volume in the U.S. are down by 36% and 43%, respectively.

As a result, allocator expectations have changed drastically — with one area in particular focus being the debt capital markets. According to data from Preqin, more than than 520 funds were targeting $295 billion of private debt as of October 2020; a record increase of 54 per cent compared to January.

Next Tuesday, we'll be covering these evolving changes to the world of DCM investing in 2021 and beyond. We'll be joined by a panel of investing experts as they offer insight on where opportunity and yield may be uncovered amid an expected landscape of volatility, loan defaults, tighter liquidity, regulatory risk, and evolving geopolitics.

The webinar panel, featuring Brandon Laughren, CIO of Laughren Group and Michael Danov, President & CIO of SBP Management, will cover:

  • Global outlook for DCM, areas of opportunity and risk,
  • Changes to allocations given 2020 events and 2021 expectations,
  • Macro factors affecting DCM investing strategies,
  • Technology considerations amid remote deal making and due diligence,
  • The growing role of direct lending and private credit
