New PoPs, new functionalities, catching up virtually, and 1,000 connected networks

August is the peak holiday season in Europe, and even though a lot of our colleagues have been on holidays, there has still been a lot going on from India to the US, and of course, online. Read on!

We hosted the first of our virtual summer round tables in August for peers in Hamburg and Dusseldorf. Thank you to everyone who joined us and we hope you found the presentations helpful and enjoyed your beering kits! We also released a beta version of IPFIX Export for Frankfurt. You can now use your own programs to analyse data flow activity on your physical network access. We are working on bringing this functionality to the other exchanges as well.

We celebrated 1,000 connected networks in Frankfurt, and a new peak in Marseille: the first time the exchange crossed the magical 100 Gbps threshold. And in our interview with GasLINE's Managing Director Wolfram Rinner, you can read about the visionary early days of the Internet, and how the company is bringing the outlying regions in Germany online.

Enjoy the newsletter.

Keeping the pioneering spirit alive

In our interview with GasLINE’s Managing Director, Wolfram Rinner explains how bringing the outlying regions online for the modern Internet and connecting them to the world through DE-CIX still has the energy and spirit of the visionary early days of the Internet.
