Good morning. Every election year since 2004, artist Sheryl Oring has invited members of the public to compose letters to the next US president, which she transcribes on a typewriter and mails to the White House. Yesterday was no exception as Oring stood outside the Free Library of Philadelphia in full secretarial garb to capture swing state residents’ hopes and dreams. Staff Reporter Isa Farfan spoke to the artist about the long-running performance series.

In another must-read today, Matt Stromberg delves into Maura Brewer’s exhibition at the Timeshare art space in Los Angeles, which investigates the obscure financialization of art by way of public data linked to billionaire MoMA trustee Daniel Sundheim.

There’s a lot more below, including Sarah E. Bond on the worsening threats to cultural heritage in Lebanon, Sháńdíín Brown reporting on the ground from Jeffrey Gibson’s three-day symposium at the United States pavilion in Venice, and Frédéric Chopin’s new banger.
