By KELLY P. KISSEL | State news editor Oscar Lozada has been convicted of killing and dismembering his wife. Jurors heard a gruesome confession, and then worked quickly to convicted Lozada of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. Police say Lozada admitted killing his wife then cutting her body up and dropping it in various waterways along Interstate 10 between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
A public hearing is set for next week on whether La. 42 needs another roundabout in northeastern Ascension Parish. There's already one near Port Vincent, and highway crews say another nearby intersection would be a great place for another one.
The Pointe Coupee sheriff wants to see what's coming and going. He's put forward a plan to install traffic cameras and license plate readers at various parts of the parish. |
