DEEP NESS
There are places on earth that bathe us with hypnotic colors, soothing sounds and silky elements, wrapping the mind in tranquility and beckoning the soul to go deep.
Movement in the sunlit edge of vast waters is an invitation to go swimming, to dive below the surface and experience the world of liminal time. Suspended from the absolutes in our lives and exploring unknown territory is incredibly freeing and scary at the same time! And, it is breathtakingly beautiful.
Sylvia Earle has spent a lifetime steeped in the wonder of liminal experience. She is the only person (note person as opposed to woman!) to take a solo walk on the ocean floor which in some places is 7+ miles deep. Witnessing humanity's enduring fascination with "outer space"; while she has delighted in "inner space" Sylvia offers correlations between these two worlds that speak to the connectedness of inner and outer life, personally and universally.
And the conduit is in-between time.

THE PLACE BETWEEN Artist Mastery Immersion profile
Cat Davis's professional life had long been suffocating her artistic soul when she decided to take the Oil Pastels into Abstraction workshop at the Art Students League in Denver. The introduction to immersive soul expression while learning technical skill led her to participate in an Artist Mastery Immersion one-year program.
The first months of working together opened the channel to Cat's core expression, revealing lifelong experiences steeped in the Place Between. The only girl surrounded by brothers in a very mobile childhood, Cat was often between social constructs and ultimately found comfort and familiarity with her liminal reality.
Through extensive conversations and artistic exploration connections were made between her life's journey, fascination with astronomy and oceanography, and the inherent visual language that poured out of the oil pastels and subsequent oil paintings.
Cat creates paintings of deep, rich, luminous veils of kindred colors. They hold great beauty in the Place Between and invite silent contemplation.
Kind of like deep within the ocean.
