Deerfield Park District COVID-19 Community Update March 13, 2020 The Deerfield Park District is continuing to work closely with local, state and federal agencies to monitor the rapidly moving COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation. As always, the health and safety of our community is our top priority. After evaluating our district’s programs and services and coordinating with local agencies, we are taking the following steps to facilitate social distancing in public places: Effective Friday, March 13, at 5:00 p.m., all park district facilities, that include the Jewett Park Community Center, the Sachs Recreation Center, the Patty Turner Center and the Deerfield Golf Club will be closed for 2 weeks and will be re-evaluated at that time for potential opening(s). All parks will remain open but restroom facilities will be closed. The Public Input meeting for the development of the district’s updated ADA Transition Plan scheduled for March 18 has been postponed. Governor Pritzker, in a press conference yesterday, stated that public service entities can play a vital role in facilitating social distancing and help reduce the spread of COVID-19. We believe, although an inconvenience, these closures will ultimately benefit the health and welfare of our community. We thank you for your understanding. For persons registered in a canceled program, you will receive a credit for programs that haven’t started and a pro-rated credit for programs shortened by the closure(s). We can also issue a refund upon your request. Refunds may take time to process as district staff will be practicing social distancing as well. Rentals during the closure period will be canceled and you will receive a credit or refund upon request. Please understand that this is a quickly evolving situation and we will be posting updates on our website and Facebook pages as changes occur. |
