  Newsom, California’s lieutenant governor and a former San Francisco mayor, was the first candidate to announce a bid for governor more than three years ago to replace Gov. Jerry Brown, according to the Associated Press. He’ll now face Cox, a Republican businessman who was endorsed by President Trump, in November’s general election, CNN and NBC News reported.
