Power to Gas
Take action now: the ball is on the penalty mark

There is a lot of pressure to act regarding the topic of conversion of electricity to gas (power to gas). The Paris Agreement demands swift action. While the expansion of renewable energy sources is making rapid progress in the electricity sector, it is slugglish in transport and heating. At the Annual Conference of dena’s Power to Gas Strategy Platform, it became clear that there is no shortage of solutions. Everything depends now on establishing policies to implement them.

dena introduces roadmap for innovation

On completion of the Bavarian Pilot Project Demand Side Management, dena presented Bavaria’s Energy Minister, Ilse Aigner, with a roadmap containing recommended courses of action to make the electricity market more flexible. She argued that DSM was a business opportunity that should be taken advantage of.

More than 100 entrepreneurs, researchers and politicians met on 14th June in Berlin to discuss how German and French companies could support the implementation of the Paris Agreement. In addition, the Innovation Award for transnational projects was presented.

At the 2016 European Biomethane Conference (EBC) in Berlin, dena and the Austrian Gas Clearing & Settlement AG (AGCS) signed a cooperative agreement for the exchange of information on biomethane verification.

At the Handelsblatt’s Digital Energy Industry Conference, dena’s Chief Executive, Andreas Kuhlmann, presented the Digital Energy World Platform’s policy paper – advocating new business networks and competitive conditions to encourage innovation.
