Good morning from sunny Phoenix, Arizona, and welcome to the March 28 edition of the Saints Insider Newsletter. The Saints brain trust might be out at the swanky Biltmore resort in Phoenix for the NFL's annual owners meeting, but that didn't stop them from making an addition to their receiver corps. New Orleans signed veteran wideout Bryan Edwards Monday afternoon, and while this will be Edwards' first stop in New Orleans, he already comes to the team with a level of familiarity: He spent the first two years of his career catching passes from new Saints quarterback Derek Carr with the Raiders. Edwards to reporters Monday, and while he did not reach out to Carr before he signed, he knows what type of situation he's stepping into. Beat writer Terrin Waack has the details. Meanwhile, in Phoenix, the AFC coaches gave interviews Monday morning, meaning former Saints coach Sean Payton spoke in his new capacity as the Denver Broncos head coach. One interesting topic to emerge: Payton knew that, wherever he landed, he was going to look to bring Zach Strief with him. Of course, the owners meeting is not just about coaches and executives gathering to discuss their golf games: There could be real change to come out of the meeting this year. Check out some potential changes to the rules that will be on the docket this week. That's all we've got for now. Saints coach Dennis Allen is scheduled to speak Tuesday morning, so be on the lookout for more Saints news from Phoenix. Cheers, Luke Johnson |
