Derek Carr's Sunday roller coaster ride

Happy Friday and welcome to the Saints Insider Newsletter for Sept. 29.

We are two days away from the Saints’ home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Derek Carr didn’t practice for a second straight day after injuring his shoulder in this past Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers. Here’s the latest on that and more.

A Carr exclusive

Carr, in his weekly one-on-one interview with The Times-Picayune, detailed what Sunday was like for him. The interview includes how Carr found out the Saints had given up that 17-0 lead. Check it out here.

Compliments from Tampa

It’s not often that teams from the same division are willing to throw out compliments to their opponents. But one Tampa Bay Buccaneers player showed respect to the Superdome and the loud fans that will occupy the building Sunday.

Strong debut

Cornerback Isaac Yiadom made his first start for the Saints, filling in for Paulson Adebo. It was a solid outing for Yiadom, who was playing against a Packers’ team he once played for.

Injury report

Carr didn’t practice Thursday, but the Saints did get one player back. There are still some other key injuries heading into Sunday. Check out Thursday’s injury report.

That's all for today. As always, thanks for reading. Be sure to check nola.com throughout the day for any updates.

Also, check back this evening for our latest Saints Insider podcast.

Have a great weekend.
