Derek Watts is back home and recovering after being diagnosed with "severe sepsis" last month.

The Carte Blanche presenter revealed Sunday morning that he "collapsed with suspected stroke in Hoedspruit 14 days ago".

After being rushed to Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg, doctors diagnosed the veteran TV journalist with "severe sepsis", which he said "destroyed" his body within an hour.

On Sunday evening, an hour before Carte Blanche started in its 19:00 timeslot on M-Net (DStv 101), Watts shared an update, noting that he had been home for four days.

"Now walking unsupported for short distances," he wrote alongside a photo of himself in the garden after revealing earlier that due to the damage the sepsis had caused, he was "learning to walk again".

Watts further thanked his Carte Blanche team "for filling in for this 'small' fellow recovering from sepsis". He also thanked viewers for their messages of support.

REVIEW

"Class of '07 is an easy watch, but it is also one that is easy to fall in love with. With a fun cast of characters, an entertaining storyline and moments we can all relate to, it's a great comedy series to check out with your girls, and it is a worthy addition to the pantheon of great female-led comedies."
