dear designboom reader,
some musical instruments these days may have evolved with the use of technology. this may be true for love hultén. the swedish artist introduces his synthesizer with a ferrofluid visualizer, one that he tailored for an exhibition curated by designboom at sónar+D. in our interview with him, he shared how his handcrafted synthesizers are ‘something more than just eye-catching objects.’
3D printing can also be used to produce musical instrument parts. in guitalele, a travel electric guitar with ukulele body by industrial design professor lance rake, its printed electronics work well for its frame crafted from ash wood. design-wise, musician BERNTH can show how to build a 109-string acoustic harp guitar using bodies and strings of various plucked instruments.
