dear designboom reader,
the paris 2024 olympics begins on july 26th. before then, we had the opportunity to speak with the games’ head of design, joachim roncin. in our interview, he talked us through the design of the games. he discussed the torch mimicking the seine river’s ripples, the athletes’ medals whose iron is forged from that used in the eiffel tower, the diptych festive posters, and more.
visitors can also swing by exhibitions coinciding with the olympics. they can stroll around centre pompidou for its skateable sculpture or see some iconic pieces by christo, andy warhol, marc newson, and more in gagosian and the olympic museum. and if they go to the musée du luxembourg, they can find konstantin grcic’s curation on the future of design and sports.
thanks for reading!
