dear designboom reader, recent examples of treehouse architecture prove that what used to be the outdoors playground every child would dream about has turned into an adventurous typology for architects and designers to experiment with. at the hombroich rocket station in germany, japanese architect, terunobu fujimori, has installed the 'ein stein tea house,' a treehouse clad in charred robinia wood that hosts an exhibition of his projects. merging tropical and industrial aesthetics, alexis dornier has designed a series of stilted treehouses topped with thatched roofs for 'LIFT hotel' in bali. camila simas and marcos franchini question the existing treehouse typology with a series of 'treehouse modules' adapted to eight forested sites across three different locations in france. and, in another conceptual project, mexico-based architectural designer, antony gibbon, envisions 'A-F3 treehouse,' a faceted volume elevated above a forest of treetops. thanks for reading! sofia lekka angelopoulou | senior editor |
