dear designboom reader,
this week we traveled to venice for the opening days of the 2023 architecture biennale, which will remain on view until november 26. the brazil pavilion, curated by gabriela de matos and paulo tavares, won the golden lion for best national participation with ‘terra’, while sandi hilal and alessandro petti of DAAR received the award for best participant in the main exhibition, 'the laboratory of the future', curated by lesley lokko.
while in venice, we had the chance to meet with neri & hu co-founders lyndon neri and rosanna hu to discuss their 'liminality' exhibit at the ‘dangerous liaisons’ section of the arsenale. at the giardini, we spoke with the danish pavilion curators josephine michau and rikke juul gram to learn more about their investigation on how to mitigate sea level rise and the frequency of storm surges that are intensifying.
