dear designboom reader, miniature crafts can be fascinating. it may be easy to see that as limestone and marble are carved into mini architectural sculptures by matthew simmonds, or as an empty can is transformed into a cozy reading room by mozu studios. sometimes, these tiny works of art can peer into daily life, and in tatsuya tanaka’s case, using face masks and household objects. besides being visual crafts, miniatures can be functional too. take the card-sized arduboy game console which might be as big as a credit card but it works well and can run more than 300 games. for fans of on-the-go streaming, they can bring one or two functional miniature TVs with them anywhere so they can watch their movies wherever they are, right between their fingers. thanks for reading! matthew burgos | editor |
